PSI Implements Pilot Program to Train Civilian Providers on Military Behavioral Health
A team of PSI specialists recently implemented a valuable pilot program for the TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) to train Civilian Providers (read more). The Portal offers training courses to civilian primary care and mental health providers on treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). With PSI's assistance, MHS Learn now delivers these courses through a new front-end portal, complete with continuing medical education certificates. Our team also devised custom reports and a refined Self Registration process.

"This online training offers 17 continuing medical education units to participating providers, in addition to the convenience of taking courses anytime, anywhere," said Army Maj. Gen. Elder Granger, TMA deputy director. "Educating civilian providers about military culture and associated behavioral health issues continues to be one of TRICARE's priorities. Online courses are an additional tool TRICARE offers to make valuable training more accessible."

The pilot program will take place for six (6) months and will be evaluated for the addition of education courses to help treat patients suffering from disorders related to military experiences. The civilian provider portal, which is supported by Oracle Corp. (www.oracle.com), can be accessed at http://www.health.mil/civilianprovidereducation.
