Golfers Hit the Greens for Charity at Planned Systems International's 12th Annual Golf Tournament |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 12, 2008
COLUMBIA, MD - Planned Systems International (PSI) announced that a record amount was raised for charity at its 12th annual Golf Invitational held October 17, 2008 at Argyle Country Club in Silver Spring, MD. Nearly 140 players and volunteers came out for a beautiful day of golf that helped raise funds for cancer victims and their families.
Proceeds from the event totaled $20,504. With PSI's 100% matching donation, a total of $41,008 was collected. Of this amount, $36,592 will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and $4,416 will go to Special Love - a nonprofit organization benefiting Ewing's sarcoma, a cancer affecting children and young adults. This year's proceeds represent an increase of over 10% of the amount raised at last year's tournament.
"From the inception of our charity golf invitational, our mission has been to bring together government executives, local businesses, friends and supporters to raise money and increase awareness for a very worthy cause," said Terry Lin, CEO, speaking from PSI's Falls Church, Virginia offices. "It is with great appreciation that we thank all who participated for their overwhelming generosity and support to make this event a success."
"As a voluntary organization, we succeed thanks to generous donations from community and corporate leaders such as Terry Lin and PSI," said Vincent P. Fiduccia, Senior Campaign Director of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Maryland Chapter. "Their contribution will help us in our mission to find a cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families."
PSI's 13th Annual PSI Corporate Golf Invitational will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009.
