Standardized Training for Regulatory Compliancy
Project Overview

PSI is facilitating the deployment of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) e-Learning courseware — along with supporting detailed reports and administrative functions — to Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs).

The enterprise-wide platform is cost effective and greatly enhances accessibility, consistency, and readiness for annual mandatory training in DoD facilities. This training is also being deployed across VA centers plus those of the Coast Guard and Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Leveraging a joint VA/DoD purchase of e-Learning courseware increases standardization and provides consistency between the VA and DoD while reducing the cost of training when compared to current methods or agencycentric solutions.

PSI Services & Results

An enterprise deployed, standard training system like the COTS e-Learning courseware provides many benefits, including: consistency across the Services, periodic updates that reduce risks associated with outdated courseware, reduced need to repeat training at each site, and the elimination of redundancy among the Services at co-located facilities. Preconstructed courseware also creates an opportunity for rapid deployment within SCORM and Section 508 guidance.

PSI’s approach includes annual updates to the courseware to guarantee continued compliance as regulatory requirements change. To ensure the courseware meets the needs of each user, site-specific tailoring of the COTS courseware (e.g., local fire evacuation procedures), is being developed.

The e-Learning courseware will be delivered via an enterprise-wide Learning Management System, MHS Learn. Similarly, an LMS administered by the VA will reach out to each VA facility through. This supports rapid training deployment world-wide. LMS functionality provides electronic tracking of completions, reporting, and proficiency assessment. Benefits include improved accessibility and operational readiness, accountability, economies of scale for costs, learning consistency and portability of completions as personnel transfer. This streamlined training approach allows for the training content to evolve quickly as times change and new requirements arise.
