What is the SkillBridge Program?
The PSI Skillbridge program follows the rules and guidelines for the DoD Skillbridge program. Our Internship program is for Active Duty Service Members transitioning from the military and offers Active Duty Service Members making a shift to civilian life a unique opportunity to join a civilian organization (for 90 – 180 days) to learn the in’s and out’s of a specific position, in addition to experiencing what it will take to succeed in the private sector.

How long is this internship?
The PSI Internship program will range from 90 – 180 days. In order to participate in the DoD Skillbridge program, you must be within 180 days of separation. PSI requires at least a 90-day commitment to participate in the program, with longer commitments preferred.
After you apply to the PSI Skillbridge program, we will screen your resume, and if you meet the minimum qualifications of the job, you will move into our system as a candidate. From there, the recruitment department may conduct a phone screening, virtual interview, and possibly a teams/skype virtual interview with the hiring manager. If accepted, we will set up a mutually agreeable start and end date.
Where is the job located?
We have intern positions in various locations. Currently, we have opportunities in:
- Fort Walton Beach/Valparaiso, Florida
- Arlington Virginia area
- Columbia, Maryland area
- Under some circumstances, remote work is authorized
What are the work hours?
Normal work hours are Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:30pm. We are flexible regarding your need to fulfill your transition requirements.
What will I learn?
You will learn how to perform the functions of the desired job and will experience what it is like to work in a civilian corporation on a day-to-day basis. We will make sure you are exposed to all the essential functions of the job and give you the opportunity to work under the tutelage of an industry expert. For your career development, you will be assigned a PSI professional as your trainer and will be mentored by a seasoned professional.
Am I a good fit?
PSI is a government contracting organization. The ideal fit for an internship position at PSI is someone who has a strong desire to gain work experience to find employment with an organization in the government contracting environment. We are looking for service members with a background in one or more of the following areas:
- Military Finance, Accounting, or Information Technology experience
- Staff experience at a Joint Headquarters
- Department of Defense Contracting Officer or Acquisition Officer
- Military analytical programs (e.g. operations research, data analysis)
- Strategic Communications/Public Affairs
- Intelligence Career Fields (Data Analytics/HUMINT/GEOINT/Planning)
In addition, having a relevant background in one of the listed open positions would make you an excellent candidate for our organization.
How will you select interns?
PSI will accept internship resumes for open positions through our staffing portal only. All submitted resumes will be considered for knowledge, skills, and abilities and evaluated for meeting the minimum requirements of the job. Once qualified resumes are identified, the recruiter will screen resumes for the “best fit” for the organization. From there, the best suited candidates will be selected for interviews. We will prioritize candidates with backgrounds we think would best benefit PSI and whose experience we could best support during their transition to the civilian job market.
Will PSI hire me after the internship?
As a growing government contracting organization, PSI is always looking for skilled professionals. We may offer full-time roles to some interns, but we cannot guarantee it. We will provide all interns with career development during their internship tenure and help them build marketable skills to work with PSI or other Government contractors.
